As I indicated in one of my previous posts, the PedritoMartinez Group continues to amaze fans and experts of the Latin music industry.
With arrangements that mix elements of Latin Jazz, Cuban traditional music, and
Afro-Cuban music, this band has toured almost the whole world spreading their music
proposal. Whether you listen to the band for the first time or you are familiar
with their music, the reaction is always the same. It is amazing that only four
musicians can create such a rich, fresh, and danceable music, and of course, their
stage performance goes accordingly with the wealth of their music as well.
Pedrito Martinez Group. Album Teaser
This time the band brings us their first studio album with a
release event at City Winery, New York City on October 8th 2013. The
album has 11 songs. Three of them composed by Pedrito Martinez, and the rest
are covers from famous artists of Cuban Popular Music such as Los Van Van and
Tirso Duarte. With his amazing voice of “Rumbero” and a solid Bata Drums
influence, Pedrito Martinez puts his personal signature as a producer of the
album. Ariacne Trujillo added her singular way to play the piano and her
beautiful voice as lead singer in the covers “Memorias”, “I’ll Be there”, and
“Después de Todo”. Finally, Jhair Sala (percussion) and Alvaro Benavides (bass)
add their impressive musician virtuosity to complete what I consider a true joy
of Latin Music.
Pedrito Martinez Group. Debut Album Cover
Among other musicians that participated in the recording
sessions of the album one can find great artists from the Latin Jazz and the Latin
music scene such as John Scofield, Wynton Marsalis, Steve Gadd, and MarcQuiñones. The album was co-produced by Pedrito and Steve Gadd and it is
available now for pre-order on iTunes. Moreover, fans can get their first promotional
single “Conciencia” instantly when pre-ordering. The Pedrito Martinez Group has
arrived to establish an unique, but at the same time, familiar sound since they
rescued Cuban music roots and mixed them with contemporary ideas. The band is
booked to play in the US and Europe as part of their first album release tour.
Do not miss the chance to listen to the band live. You will not regret it!
